Khulisa Management Services, in partnership with LASER PULSE Purdue University, the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), conducted a national Trafficking in Persons (TIP) study between 2020 and early 2022. The goal of the study was to provide evidence on the nature and magnitude of TIP in South Africa to policy makers in the Government of South Africa (GOSA) and to development partners, implementing partners, and service providers.
The third policy brief has now been published. You can read the latest policy brief, “Take action to strengthen countertrafficking efforts”, below.
This brief highlights key findings of the study, enablers for counter-trafficking, and recommendations to improve counter-trafficking efforts in South Africa. The government is encouraged to focus on three pathways to impact effective counter-trafficking:
• A TIP response model;
• Preventing victimization and meeting victim and survivor needs; and
• Research translation.
