Data Quality Assurance
Khulisa has extensive experience conducting data quality audits/assessments (DQAs) across 22 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. Our DQA work spans numerous sectors, including: health; nutrition; agriculture; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); infrastructure; and education.
Khulisa began conducting third-party (external) DQAs in 2004, and we have assessed hundreds of program indicators for a wide range of clients, including:
- U.S. government programs (e.g., programs for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief [PEPFAR], the Department of Defence, the U.S. Agency for International Development [USAID], and the Centers for Disease Control);
- Host governments;
- Multilateral donors (the Global Fund, UNICEF); and
- International NGOs.
In the last eight years alone, Khulisa carried out DQAs on more than 60 indicators reported by 30 organizations across 10 countries.
We have used many different DQA approaches and tools, ranging from the very comprehensive (e.g., WHO Data Quality Review) to more streamlined, rapid DQA assessments. While much of Khulisa’s experience is around conducting external DQAs, we have also trained organizations to conduct their own internal DQAs for capacity strengthening and monitoring.
In addition to conducting DQAs, Khulisa provides DQA-related training and capacity building. This includes technical support to Ministries of Health in five countries on conducting national DQAs and facility assessments, as well as a new, online course on Data Quality Fundamentals. With our extensive DQA experience across regions and sectors, Khulisa ensures data accuracy, consistency, and fitness for purpose.
