Margie Roper was recently appointed to lead the new Education & Development Division at Khulisa. Khulisa has a history of conducting evaluations in the education sector in Africa, and the new division is part of Khulisa’s strategy to continue building expertise and expand services globally in these sectors. The Education and Development Division will provide technical expertise and leadership on program development, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge-sharing in the areas of education, human trafficking, and social development.

Margie’s experience in education began with her undergraduate degrees (a bachelor’s degree in primary Education and an honors degree in education). Throughout her career, Margie has gained expertise in developing, implementing, and evaluating a range of education interventions in the following areas:
· Early child development,
· Early grade reading,
· Playful learning,
· Inclusive education,
· Improving teacher practice,
· School management, and
· Quality educational systems.
Margie is passionate about using evaluations and research to enhance teacher practices and improve children’s learning experiences and outcomes. She is currently leading task orders under USAID Southern Africa’s Practical Education Research for Optimal Reading and Management: Analyse, Collaborate, Evaluate (PERFORMANCE) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract:
· Data Collection and Analysis for the Early Grade Reading Study (EGRS);
· Benchmarking in African Languages;
· Design and Implementation Evaluation of the Reading Support Project; and
· Design and Delivery task order in South Africa.
Margie is also the lead facilitator of the BRIDGE Monitoring and Evaluation Community of Practice (www.bridge.org.za).
In addition, Margie is a Ph.D. candidate at Lancaster University in Higher Education, Research, and Enhancement.
