Margie Roper, Khulisa’s Director for Education and Development, co-authored a chapter in The Palgrave Handbook on Modern Slavery, recently published as an eBook with Springer Nature. The handbook “takes a comprehensive approach to studying and understanding modern slavery, particularly forced labor and human trafficking”.
Margie collaborated with Khulisa partner Ajwang’ Warria and four other experts on Chapter 5 of the handbook: “Grooming to Violence: An Analysis of Pathways into Exploitation and Trafficking for Female Adult Victims and Survivors in South Africa”. The chapter emerged from the Research on Trafficking in Persons in South Africa project, which Khulisa and its partners conducted for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Read abstracts from each chapter of the handbook, or download the full chapter or book, on the Springer Nature website.
