At the recent South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association biennial conference, Khulisa evaluator Sithenjisiwe Wendy Dube presented a talk about the importance of engaging youth in evaluations. Wendy’s talk focused on Khulisa’s Youth Inclusion Framework, laying out why youth voices are important in the evaluation process and strategies for integrating youth at various stages of an evaluation – including working with youth as data collectors, key informants, young evaluators, and advisors.
The Youth Inclusion Framework can be adapted to sector-specific needs, ensuring relevant and impactful inclusion of youth/emerging evaluators. It involves a multi-step process: identifying youth stakeholders (whether they will be key informants or data collectors), engaging them through tailored methodologies, and integrating their feedback into the monitoring and evaluation process.
