Ripple effects mapping (REM) is an emerging, mixed-method evaluation technique that combines one-on-one interviews, group interviewing, mind mapping, and qualitative data analysis. REM is designed to capture the impact of complex programs and collaborative processes, and is especially well-suited for evaluating group-focused efforts. Several evaluators at Khulisa are interested in REM and working on strategies to incorporate it into our projects.

We recently discovered this Field Guide to Ripple Effects Mapping, published by the University of Minnesota, which provides a comprehensive overview and step-by-step guide for implementing REM. The guide is free and easy to download from the University of Minnesota Digital Conservancy website.
