Our recently published blog post describes the “Green Jobs” project – which Khulisa conducted with RTI International – an effort to measure jobs that contribute toward an evolving green economy in Kenya. Khulisa was responsible for part of the data collection on the project, which involved surveying workers and managers in the energy sector about how they obtain the skills they need to contribute toward Kenya’s green economy.
When the project began, its aim was to figure out how energy sector employees were obtaining the “green” skills they needed, and how well higher education institutions were doing in teaching these skills. But as the project progressed, the Khulisa team realized there was not yet any consensus about which skills are necessary to succeed in the green jobs industry.
So the team needed to take a step back: Before surveying employees on how they obtained their green industry skills, Khulisa first needed to survey employees on what those green skills actually are.
Before delving into data collection, it’s important to ensure you’re collecting the right data. Learn more in the full blog post.
