Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) on measuring the effectiveness of communication-related initiatives are sparse.Khulisa searched for a few resources to support evaluators with this task.

The European Commission has developed this handy toolkit for the evaluation of communication activities. It includes quick links on how to evaluate conferences, newsletters and social media campaigns, among others.

In a previous #EvalTuesdayTip we also shared this brilliant toolkit developed by Caroline Cassidy and Louise Ball for ODI. It’s a strategic approach to measure communication outputs using indicators such as reach, quality and usefulness of content, as well as uptake. Lastly this presentation on M&E of communication campaigns by Dr Peter W. Vaughan is useful from an evaluation design perspective. Vaughan is a public health expert, who has led international public health communications at John Hopkins University for a part of his career.
