We recently came across a useful paper, “Disrupting evaluation? Emerging technologies and their implications for the evaluation industry”, which addresses the impact of emerging technologies (ET), particularly artificial intelligence, on the evaluation field. The paper, authored by Danish researcher Steffen Bohni Nielsen, is easily digestible and – perhaps best of all – open access, meaning anyone can download and read the paper free of charge.
The paper delves into the rapid advance of ET in the 21st century and its impact on work, with a particular focus on evaluation, which is said to be adopting ET relatively slowly compared to other industries.
Nielsen concludes, unsurprisingly, that ET will have a profound impact on evaluation and suggests evaluators need to embrace the potential of ET, albeit critically.
